Welcome to the JISC ReCITE project Wiki

The broad aim of the ReCITE project is to reuse materials, originally created by the Wales e-Training Network (WeTN) as part of an on-line Foundation Degree in e-Commerce, in three different curriculum areas and by three different institutions.

The materials were created to address the training needs of SMEs and to be delivered through on-line work-based learning. It is proposed that one of the key modules, which has applicability in a number of other curriculum areas, be re-purposed and re-used in 3 further quality assured programmes of study. These will include both campus-based and distance learning on-line delivery and will use different on-line delivery environments.

The project lead partner is Swansea Metropolitan University and the project team is based at Swansea College which has a successful track record in materials re-purposing. The original materials for the project came from the University of Glamorgan where they were validated as a module on a CertHE/Foundation Degree in e-Commerce.

The module to be re-purposed is the ICT module covering desktop applications skills. It is being re-purposed for an HNC in Legal Studies delivered by Coleg Sir Gar, as an NVQ4 module for work-based learners by Swansea College and as a generic skills module for all 1st year degree students at Swansea Metropolitan University.

The project began in July 2008 and is scheduled to complete by 31st March 2009. In that time the re-purposed modules will be piloted with students from each of the new programmes and the learner experience will be evaluated.

The main deliverables from the project will be the repurposed modules. These will be available as IMS compatible zipped packages in the deliverables section of this website, and will also be uploaded to JORUM. A further key deliverable will be the evaluation report including the lessons learned from the evaluation of re-purposing across different curriculum areas in different institutions.
